Organisational Consulting
Life-Goals Consulting is focused at supporting
organisations to change and develop to improve their performance. Development of
organisations can focus on three areas: structures, processes and culture. It
also includes coaching individuals and teams for maximum performance
particularly through change. The goal is to create personal and organisational
excellence.
Structures start with the organisation diagram

Who is part of the organisation, job titles, role descriptions, departments, formal meetings and
committees, decision
making and delegation of work. Often the official structure is out of date
compared with who really does what. What Life-Goals
can do is to redesign the structures to make the organisation more effective,
recognising reality and facilitating maximum contributions from all the
organisations human assets.
Processes are the things that people do to make
and deliver the product - many people are often involved in a series of steps,
often incorporating unnecessary steps. There are also many supporting
processes not immediately concerned with delivering the product to the customer.
Processes include policies and procedures whether in writing or not. What Life-Goals
can do is to analyse processes, identifying what is effective and efficient and
redesigning and changing what is not. Life-Goals
works with those involved, harnessing their knowledge and facilitating
change.
Culture is the accepted way of doing things - the way we do things round here. This includes symbols of power and status, stories
of the history of the organisation, rituals and social relationships. It
determines what people believe about their organisation and its role. Culture
often determines the level of innovation and empowerment that is possible within
an organisation. Culture is the most difficult aspect to change as it is
rooted in habits, attitudes and beliefs that have built up over time and are
often inappropriate for the current situation. However Life-Goals
can work with staff at the attitude level to bring underlying attitudes and
beliefs to the surface and rebuild them in a more appropriate form for the
current challenges.
Life-Goals
Consultant skills and experience include redesigning and changing structures, processes and
culture to fit the organisations' values and goals and improve performance. Life-Goals
can
design and lead change to improve overall performance through change in
structure, process or culture. Analysis of the current situation is usually the
first step followed by discussion of options for change, agreement of a change
plan and implementation of the change. Evaluation of goals met and improved
effectiveness demonstrates what has been achieved.
Life-Goals
belief is that organisations are
organic beings which grow and develop and have a life and an intelligence of
their own. They ought to be comprised of fully empowered and response-able
individuals. In order to develop them effectively they must be developed and
educated as carefully and respectfully as gifted individuals. This means
understanding and respecting their history and abilities and guiding them
towards better performance through learning and increased capacity to learn and
change.
